The Mountains Calling

I rode a nameless horse down a nameless mile and I swear I heard the mountains calling
My society has been running wild ever since the sky was falling
It forced me to the road
It’s carried me so far, so far from my home.
The path is beaten but its dark, for sure, only when you arrive will you know
The simple life wasn’t what it seemed, but you’re 100 miles in and starved, so
You idle through the pain
And simply push on, yeah, you push on through the rain
They parted ways somewhere by the sea, perhaps he’ll return there in time
She said the open road it calls out to me, I’d be a fool to ignore such a sign
So don’t forget to send
I’ll see you somewhere, somewhere in the end
I turned my eyes back to the road today
I heard the mountains calling
Tryin’ to forget about the words she said
I heard the mountains calling
To find some peace for my poor weary head
I heard the mountains calling
Sometimes I think that I’d be better dead
I heard the mountains calling
